Michael D. Wilson
University of Toronto, Canada
Michael D. Wilson is a Senior Scientist at the Hospital for Sick Children (Program in Genetics and Genome Biology) and an Associate Professor of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto. He is currently a Visiting Professor at the Perkins Institute for Medical Research, University of Western Australia. Dr. Wilson completed his PhD at the University of Victoria, focusing on comparative genomics of rapidly evolving genes, followed by postdoctoral work at Cancer Research UK and the University of Cambridge on the evolution of mammalian gene regulatory circuitry. His lab combines genomics, multi-species comparisons, and molecular biology to study gene regulation in development and disease, with interests in cardiovascular cis-regulatory elements and the transcription factors that bind them, postnatal gene regulation, topoisomerases, and rare disease mechanisms.
