Prof Bob Schmitz

University of Georgia, USA

Bob Schmitz is a UGA Foundation Professor in the Plant Sciences at the University of Georgia. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, where he studied the molecular basis for epigenetic processes. Following his doctorate, Bob conducted postdoctoral research at the Salk Institute, focusing on the function of DNA methylation in plant genomes. Bob’s research centers on the generation and phenotypic consequences of plant epialleles, developing techniques to study cis-regulatory sequences, and leveraging epigenetic variation to modify plant phenotypes.
